Dance Shoes
There are many different types of dance; jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, ballet, and cultural dancing. There are as many different types of dance shoes as there are types of dance. It is crucial that you have the right kind of shoes for the type of dance you have chosen. Having the wrong kind of shoes not only leads to discomfort but it can start physical problems such as poor posture and foot deformations that can eventually require surgery.
For ballet style dancing point shoes are extremely important. They allow the dancer to have the correct braces and supports for their foot. They also make it possible for the dancer to dance on the very tip of their toe, which is necessary for this style. For many other types of studio dancing canvas shoes are the best choice. Canvas dance shoes allow the dancers foot to bend freely in any position while giving them protection. Canvas shoes come in black and tan. Tan canvas shoes should be used in formal styles like lyrical or cultural. This allows the shoe to go almost un-noticed making the dancer appears barefoot. Black canvas shoes can be used in all other styles. Black canvas shoes add to the costume of the dancer and look professional.
Other styles of shoes should be discussed with your dance coach. Some other styles of dance shoes are sometimes preferred to bring a different style or look to the dance costume in a performance. Dance shoes need to be very supportive and flexible; if you feel your dance shoes do not have these qualities then a change should be made. Dance shoes can be very beneficial to the dancer if chosen correctly. They are often times structured to allow the dancer to perform movements more easily and more gracefully by providing appropriate arches and padding.
